Coach Chris McGovern brings over 25 years of experience and a deep passion for developing athletes at all levels. His journey began at the age of 5, racing BMX, and quickly transitioned into road racing as a junior. Chris went on to race professionally for teams such as Zaxby’s, Jelly Belly, Health Net, and Sierra Nevada, where he learned that success in cycling isn’t just about hard work, but about preparing for the unexpected while always keeping the vision of success in mind.
After his professional years on the road bike were over, Chris indulged into trail running. Hitting some huge races himself and even winning the National 50km trail running title. Along with his cyclists that he coaches he has a handful of runners!
In addition to his own racing career, Chris has coached at some of the highest levels in the sport. He served as the cycling coordinator and head coach for the Fort Lewis College Cycling Team, which was ranked the #1 cycling school in the country. He’s also worked with USA Cycling’s cyclocross programs, coaching at the 2017 World Championships in Luxembourg.
Currently based in Olympia, Washington, Chris started his own Cyclocross team in 2023, which has seen remarkable growth and success. His coaching philosophy centers on helping athletes of all abilities reach their goals—whether it’s racing in their first event or competing at the most prestigious events. Chris is committed to creating an environment where athletes feel supported, challenged, and inspired to push their limits.
Chris takes a personalized approach to coaching, always working to tailor training to the individual’s needs and goals. His focus is on building not only strength and skill but also confidence and resilience, ensuring athletes are prepared for both the challenges and the rewards of the sport.
